Press Release

The Meredith College Art Department is pleased to present the Fall 2021 Artists-in-Residence, who have returned to their alma mater to further explore their practices in ceramics, fiber, and mixed media. Paige Van Zile uses soft sculpture to create an original, yet eclectic take on historical monuments and ego. Rachel Stewart’s ceramic work focuses on abstract sculptural forms that personify emotional states in addition to wheel-thrown pottery. Bekah Wade incorporates multiple media into a new realm where viewers can interact through new perspectives and a moldable composition where the viewer takes lead.

The Emerging Artist-in-Residency Program is designed to assist recent Meredith Art Department graduates in growing and strengthening their artistic practice in a supportive community with access to studio facilities and mentorship as they create a mature body of work to launch their professional art career or apply for MFA programs or postgraduate degrees in related fields, such as MA in Art Education, Museum Studies, or Art History.
